Sugar Land TMC Tour (Only)
Take a tour of Sugar Land’s Traffic Management Center (TMC). Recently upgraded in Fall of 2016, the new TMC features a dedicated room with 18 screens that help monitor traffic along the city’s 90 signalized intersections. The TMC is setup with 4 dedicated workstations that are used to manage the city’s Intelligent Transportation System(ITS). The center is equipped with ability to modify traffic signals via central management software, an adaptive System on SH 6, Permanent DMS Signs, Bluetooth Travel Time Readers, RR Monitoring System along US 90, Wayside Horns, magnetometers that collect turning movement counts at over 50 intersections 24/7, and an ITS website that is integrated with Waze to help identify/report traffic incidents. This technology serves as foundation to providing better service through a data-driven approach. It allows staff be responsive to traffic conditions real-time and use the stored data to troubleshoot reported concerns or produce performance metrics. The TMC has two dedicated operators which manage the systems Monday-Friday from 6 am to 7 pm, on Saturday 11am to 3 pm, and during special events that generate significant traffic.
2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
No Fee.
