The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) workshop on Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) is intended to promote the following goals:
- Learn about current knowledge on pedestrian traffic control devices (especially RRFBs).
- Learn about the effectiveness of RRFBs, how to measure effectiveness (through driver yielding, crashes, etc.), and how to identify locations best suited to install RRFBs.
- Conduct a peer exchange to discuss participant’s experiences with RRFBs.
The workshop is free and available to staff members from: State DOTs, highway transportation agencies, FHWA employees, and FHWA stakeholders.
This virtual workshop offers training to State DOT representatives that emphasizes RRFBs, and the peer exchange session provides a facilitated discussion for States to discuss successes, challenges, needs, and opportunities in implementing RRFBs.
The FHWA RRFBs workshop will be conducted by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI). This virtual workshop will be offered via the Microsoft Teams platform. For those who desire documentation in support of continuing education requirements, proof of participation will be provided to those attendees who request it.
