Breakout Session I I: Aviation Education Preparing the workforce of tomorrow is critical to the continued success of the aviation industry. Our panel of experts will share insights on various aviation educational and outreach programs as well as initiatives designed to cultivate interest and talent in aviation and aerospace. This session will highlight efforts for K-12 students to encourage interest in STEM and aviation. Moderator: Shelly Lesikar deZevallos II: Airport Construction from a Contractor’s Perspective This session will examine the construction project process from the perspective of the contractor. This panel discussion will cover a broad range of topics that will surely be of interest to both airport consultants and airport sponsors. Understanding various projects from different perspectives enables the stakeholders to better understand them, minimize delays and other issues, and ultimately results in a better finished project. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and participate in this session that brings together contractors, consultants, and airport sponsors. Moderator: Ed Mayle, Project Manager, TxDOT, Aviation Division III: Airport 101 A – Funding New airport manager or just need a refresher? This session is for you! Come and learn about funding options for your airport, including the different state grant programs and their requirements. Don’t forget to bring any questions you have for TxDOT on funding for your airport. Breakout Session II I: Advancing/Emerging Technologies From drone delivery to electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL), technological development is advancing the aviation industry and airports of all sizes should be prepared for the changes these advancements will bring. This session will explore eVTOL and charging infrastructure developments in Texas as well as provide an update on Texas’ Advanced Air Mobility Advisory Committee. Moderator: Emily Lambert, Business Ops Project Manager, TxDOT, Aviation Division II: Airport Consultant Session – TxDOT Aviation Engineering Project Management Staff This session will provide an opportunity for the consultant community to hear updates from the Engineering Project Management team. Eusebio “Chevy” Torres, the Engineering Project Management section director, along with his team of project managers, will also be available to answer questions. Learn about regulations that govern airport layout: zoning & minimum standards for runways, taxiways, and land use. Bring any questions on zoning, minimum standards, and how they impact your airport. David Kirkpatrick, Business Ops Project Manager, TxDOT, Aviation Division IV: Airport Pavement Tool Update This session will present and demonstrate a new tool developed by Texas A&M Transportation Institute researchers to visualize pavement condition data as well as provide access to maintenance and rehabilitation plans and historic data. Airport sponsors will learn what data and information is included, how to access it, and tips for interacting with the tool.
