Training Workshop: Diamond Interchange Operation
This class, scheduled for Wednesday, September 28, is intended for traffic operations professionals as well as traffic system designers. The discussion of operational and design considerations will look at standard diamond interchanges using traditional 4-phase and 3-phase operation and will also look at alternative designs such as diverging diamond interchange (DDI) and displaced left turn operation. It will include a general discussion of the controller unit in free and coordinated operation which will include Ring and Barrier configuration, detector location and channel assignments, load switch assignments, use of overlaps, actuated timing parameters and coordination programming.
Instructor: Nader Ayoub, Iteris, Inc.
NEW: Vendor Showcase Session
ITS Texas will feature something new this year that has been a big success at other ITS state chapter meetings — a Vendor Showcase scheduled for all meeting registrants to attend as a singular Session 4 (A&B) on Thursday. This supercharges our popular previous session for New Technologies/ITS Technology Toolbox and expands it for participation by all attendees of the 2022 Annual Meeting!
As a Sponsor and/or exhibitor as well as an ITS Texas member in good standing, we invite you to participate in our Vendor Showcase. Your company has an opportunity to make a succinct (45 seconds) verbal presentation about your firm, products, and/or services you are featuring at this year’s meeting. The Vendor Showcase will provide a unique forum to present information to all conference attendees in a non-competitive, low-pressure environment. Since this session will occur directly before our Exhibitor Reception, if something interests an attendee, they will be able to have a one-on-one discussion with your company immediately after.
If you would like to participate, please register directly for the Vendor Showcase Session. You must register and logos received by Friday, August 26. Email logos to [email protected]. Only those who sign up by then will be scheduled to participate in the Vendor Showcase. Guidelines are few but strict:
- 45-second live “commercial.” You will be timed and cut off at 45 seconds.
- You may use hand-held props, but no PowerPoint, video or any form of presentation.
The lineup schedule will be prioritized by Sponsors first, then alphabetically. More details and participants’ schedule will be provided prior to the meeting.
All-Attendee Social Event
All meeting registrants are invited to come and enjoy a complimentary evening with bowling, pool, good food at our Social Event on Wednesday, September 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. In addition to great conversation and a casual way to meet the folks you’d be sitting with over the following days, you’ll enjoy:
- Bowling Tournament* for 8 teams to compete, 4 players per team. Top 4 teams will advance to the finals. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams. We will also have open bowling for those who just want to bowl in the 6 open lanes during the final round.
- 3 Billiard Tables with free play
- Food (Fajitas Buffet)
- 2 drink tickets per attendee
- Video games available to play
*Bowling Tournament
Join members and vendors to enjoy a night of fun and competition. Form your own team to represent your company or just a team of your best bowling friends to secure bragging privileges for the remainder of the Annual Meeting and beyond.
The first round of the tournament will start promptly at 6:00 p.m. — so show up early to get your bowling shoes and your lane assignment (participants may bring their own ball and shoes for that extra edge in this highly competitive tournament). The top 4 teams will advance directly to the final round and compete for the title of “2022 ITS Texas Best Bowlers!”
To form a team or request to join one, please contact John Gianotti at [email protected]. Sign up early as this is first-come, first-served, and we are limited to 8 teams for the tournament (32 players maximum). There is no registration or other fee for the tournament as it is included as part of the social event.
